Pillars are free-standing candles that should be burned on a pillar holder, or heat-safe plate. Burn for one inch per diameter of candle (ex. if the candle is 3 inches wide, burn for at least 3 hours at a time).

As the candle burns, pillars develop a "lip" or "shell". To keep the candle burning properly, you need to "hug" it, or cup the shell inward twords the flame. The allows the candle to burn evenly and consume almost completly. Do this after you extinguish the candle, while the wax is still warm and pliable.
