TO INCREASE BURN TIME AND SCENT THROW, FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE CANDLE BURNING INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Do not burn unattended and keep away from flammable objects.
  2. Votives should be burned in snug-fitting container on a heat-resistant surface.
  3. DO NOT cut wick before burning (this is for container candles and votives - pillars may need trimming prior to first burn), and keep wick trimmed to 1/4 inch while burning. If your wick exceeds 1/4 inch, or flame becomes larger than 1 inch, extinguish candle, trim wick and re-light. This helps to prevent smoking, mushrooming and soot.
  4. Burn candle for 2-3 hours at a time. For container candles, burn for one hour per inch of candle diameter. This helps to prevent tunneling.
  5. To properly extinguish candle, dip the wick into the melted wax with a long object such as a wire or pencil then straighten.
  6. Keep candles away from children and pets.
  7. Discontinue candle when 1/2 inch of wax remains. Do NOT burn to bottom of jar, the jar can get too hot and burst.
  8. Candles will fade or discolor over time. Direct sunlight or intense lighting will accelerate fading. Store candles in a cool, dark, and dry place.

Enjoy your candle!!

MELTIE INSTRUCTIONS: Place Meltie in the top of tart burner. Light tea light underneath and Meltie will liquefy, filling the room with fragrance. Melties last an average of 8 hours. When scent is used up, wait for wax to cool and harden. Never pour liquid wax!! If the wax doesn't come right out, place it in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes and it should pop right out.
(Melties can also be used in electric burners)

PILLARS: Pillars are free-standing candles that should be burned on a pillar holder, or heat-safe plate. Burn for one inch per diameter of candle (ex. if the candle is 3 inches wide, burn for at least 3 hours at a time). Pillar wicks may need to be trimmed prior to being lit the first time, and then again before subsequent burns to help prevent smoking or sooting.

As the candle burns, pillars develop a "lip" or "shell". To keep the candle burning properly, you need to "hug" it, or cup the shell inward towards the flame. This allows the candle to burn evenly and consume almost completely. Do this after you extinguish the candle, while the wax is still warm and pliable.
